Empower
Communities

Empowering communities to champion energy, cost-saving, and emissions-reducing initiatives in their own lives.

Everyone has the ability to make informed decisions about their homes, environmental footprint, and the energy they consume. They just need access to the right information. Empower Me offers customized workshops, multilingual education, and coaching services that meet the needs of diverse communities across Canada and the United States.

It all starts with Energy Mentors.

Imagine a trusted member of the community who is deeply knowledgeable about energy efficiency and home safety. These are Energy Mentors: members of the community who have been hired and trained by Empower Me to help communities better understand the relationship between energy, their homes, and the choices they make. Together, Empower Me Mentors speak over nine languages and engage diverse communities across the Pacific Northwest.

Multilingual Workshops

When navigating a new home, learning a new language, or getting acquainted with local utilities, identifying steps to save energy and money can feel especially challenging. Empower Me workshops are designed to equip participants with the information they need to make confident, informed choices about energy and their homes.

EVs 101

As electric vehicles (EVs) become more common, many communities have questions. In this workshop, participants learn about different EV technologies, charging options, and maintenance, while discovering incentives and rebates that can help make the leap from a gas-powered vehicle to an EV more affordable.

Energy Savings Workshop for Renters

Installing energy saving measures can be confusing as a renter. What responsibilities do tenants and landlords have? In this workshop, we teach renters how to conserve energy through behavioural changes, introduce renter-friendly energy saving measures, and empower renters with questions they can ask their landlords.

Energy Savings Workshop for Seniors

Settling into retirement can lead to more time spent at home, resulting in increased energy consumption and higher bills. This workshop offers simple yet effective techniques to reduce energy consumption and save money on utility bills, while creating a supportive community for seniors to share their questions, experiences, and insights.

Energy Savings Workshop

Reducing energy consumption can result in noticeable changes to home comfort, efficiency, and affordability. From learning how to read energy bills to discovering energy saving measures and installation techniques, this workshop empowers participants by offering basic energy efficiency and home safety education.

Being Safe at Home

Home safety is extremely important, but the steps to creating a safe living environment aren’t always obvious. From understanding the role of a carbon monoxide detector to smoke alarm maintenance or responding to a gas leak, this workshop helps participants prevent and respond to emergencies that can happen at home.

Rebates 101

Confused about applying to rebate programs? This 30-minute step-by-step workshop introduces participants to energy saving rebates in their state or province. Since programs are typically designed differently, we share a simple “tip list” to help applicants feel more confident throughout the application process.

Community Engagement

When communities come together, it’s an opportunity to connect and share information. Empower Me attends local events to educate communities about energy saving opportunities.
