Originally moving from the Philippines in 2015, Nicole is passionate about community building and sustainability. Working as the Program Coordinator, Nicole plays a pivotal role in supporting multicultural community outreach and delivering energy saving information in Edmonton.
Nicole holds a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Management with specialization in Community Development at Caraga State University in Minadanao, Philippines. Currently acts as the Chairman of Together in Achieving Youth Organizations (TAYO Movement), an organization focuses on youth civic engagement, multicultural dialogues and revitalization of heritage among youth. In additions to that, Nicole is involved with the Multicultural Seniors Research Team at McEwan University, where he facilitates interviews with Filipino seniors to understand the community needs.
Prior to joining Empower Me, Nicole had a vast background working with diverse communities in the Philippines to promote environmental protection through soil and water conservation, sustainable farming practices, and solid waste management. He continued his work in multiple immigrant serving organizations in Edmonton such as Edmonton Mennonite Centre for Newcomers (EMCN), Catholic Social Services (CSS), Multicultural Health Brokers Coop. (MCHB Coop.) and Edmonton Immigrant Serving Association through language translation, brokering for families and youth empowerment.
